Sports Betting
One of the most amusing gambling is sports betting. Players risk money by wagering on different types of sports like football, basketball, baseball and most on horse racing. The purpose of wagering on sport events is to be guessed the winner. If the gambler guesses the name of the team or horse, he takes the prize pool. The sum he will win depends on the gathered stakes.
There are some general rules for wagering – All sporting events must be played on the date and site scheduled unless otherwise specified. Sporting events postponed by more than 12 hours or rescheduled will constitute no action. For betting purposes, the winner of an event will be determined on the date of the event’s conclusion.
Of course, there are some specific rules for different sports and you can read them below.
Football
NFL & NCAA – At least 55 minutes of play needed for bet to have action. Overtime counts for both side and total bets. This is going to be really important for the real money super bowl betting that will be going on this February.
Basketball
NBA – At least 43 minutes of play needed for bet to have action. Overtime counts for both side and total bets.
NCAA – At least 35 minutes of play needed for bet to have action. Overtime counts for both side and total bets.
In the event of a tie in NCAA conference futures bets, the team entering the conference tournament seeded higher shall be deemed the winner for betting purposes.
Hockey
NHL – At least 55 minutes of play needed for bet to have action. Overtime counts.
Betting on hockey is done by laying or taking goals and money odds. The minus (-) indicates the favorite; the plus (+) indicates the underdog.
Horse Racing
All futures and proposition bets available through our sports betting interface are action regardless of injuries, scratches, non-starts, incomplete finishes or any other situation where placement cannot be determined.
Rugby
If a match is abandoned or postponed (not played on the scheduled day) all bets are no action, except bets on the first try scorer if a try has been scored prior to abandonment. If a venue is changed, bets will stand unless the game is to be played at the original away team’s ground in which case all bets will be no action. Bets taken on first try scorer will be no action if the player does not take part in the game or comes on after a try has already been scored.
Soccer
All football bets will be settled on 90 minutes play. This includes any time added by the referee in respect to injuries and other stoppages. Extra Time, Golden Goals and Penalty Shoot-Outs do not count. To place and win a bet, you must correctly predict the result of at least one game, indicating if the game will be a home win, a tie or an away win.
To win a parlay bet each of your selections must be correct. Keep in mind that for betting purposes a game can end in a tie, and when that happens, only bets placed on the tie will be winning bets. All other bets will be losing bets. Bets taken on first goal scorer will be no action if the player does not take part in the game or comes on after a goal has already been scored.
Bets taken on last goal scorer will be no action if the player does not play or come on as a substitute. If any match is abandoned or postponed, all bets will be no action unless the relevant market result has already happened. For example, if a goal has already been scored the first goal scorer betting will stand. When a venue is changed, bets will stand unless the game is to be played at the original away team’s ground in which case all bets will be no action.
Other Sports
All other events that involve a scheduled length of play or time limit must play to their conclusion or have five minutes or less of the scheduled playing time remaining when the contest concludes to be considered official for betting purposes.
